As promised some images of my new piece called "Sides to middle", it based upon a load of sheets that have been unearthed in the moving of my Grandpa. They were all turned sides to middle. The work is still very young, am not sure where it will end up...but I am quite excited by it!

More on pom poms!

As you see here we are, with fans (the boys), in the Star Anise Cafe in Stroud discovering a quick and easy way to make miraculous pompoms. This is part of the Pom Pom Project that Alison is devising with Textile Forum South West as a way to 'map' where textile people live and to bring people together to share skills and enjoy 'making' together (and chat and have coffee and cake).
All will be revealed for this project at the TFSW Conference in Taunton on Saturday 26 March - see here .Get your ticket now!
As for more pompoms for the BB's - well, it involves a birthday cake and a new exhibition - details coming at the end of this month.

New BB Liz Hewitt

Here's a taster of my work. This piece is 2m long, called Coll (Celtic name for the Hazel). The Ancient Celts believed that the Hazel encourages you to find inspiration in everything, and highlights the value of an enquiring mind and learning. Very appropriate for me at the moment as I am starting a new body of work on a much smaller scale than ever before. Images of my progress will follow.

Thrilled to pieces with this small hexagonal box for my new moth drawer - it took ages but I love it!

Heartfelt Bristol

One of my pieces of work in Curious Drawers is a heart piece made as a response to a little felt handmade heart given to me one Christmas by my youngest niece. It is made up of integrated heart rhythms from generations within the family and is called 'pulling at the heart strings'. I made a companion piece for Heartfelt Bristol http://heartfeltbristol.tumblr.com/. Jan Connet (who was in the BB's a few years ago) has made a video incorporating this piece. Works from BB's Alison and Liz Hewitt were also in the exhibition and in the beautiful heartfelt book which accompanies the project. See it by clicking on this link
