A peaceful few hours spent cutting the labels for our 'inside out' exhibition at Nature in Art. Not long now until we start hanging the work and become artists in residence for a week. I'm excited to be participating in my first Brunel Broderers exhibition this August.

Postcard packing party

Kay, Liz, Steph & Carla spent a lovely day together on Wednesday sorting our individual artists postcards into packs and then wrapping them with individual handmade wrappers.

These are just about ready -  paper folded, silk scraps stitched and buttons sewn on.

I loved the repetition of processes - cutting, folding, stitching - 30 times 

Looking forward to seeing the cards back from the printers!

Must start to prepare the short Talk for Wednesday 19th August about preparing for the Exhibition and showing images of the BB's 'work in progress' towards it....

postcard packs

As the Brunel Broderers postcards are at the printers we are making a wrap to make them into a collection. The action of wrapping paper, fabric and posting the button makes the pack a desirable object  as well as a selection of beautiful cards. Spent the afternoon stitching strips of calico to paper for our postcard packs. Now just waiting for my buttons to arrive.

Less than a month to go!

Less than a month to go before the exhibition and we are all working hard to get everything done in time. We are going to produce a postcard pack to sell at the exhibition of 12 postcards- one from each BB. These are the wrappers to go around the packs. I think they will make lovely presents to give to friends.

Prayer flags in a bluebell wood...

Paper Sculture Workshop

On Friday I did a fantastic day with Fiona Hesketh on Paper Sculpture. Great to experiment and play all day, then consider how it could relate to my textile work.
